There is no doubt that a Spring Show incorporating a significant Daffodil Section is the way to go. The varied colourful entries in other sections significantly increases the number of visitors to the show and also the number of exhibitors who might decide to try their hand at showing daffodils in the future. A draft copy of the full show results may be viewed by clicking here.
Many of the daffodils had made the short journey from Leeds Paxton Society show on the previous day and with the addition of old-faithful Ken Bacon from the Midlands and local Garden Club members who have now stepped up to the Open Section it made for a good show despite the latish season.
Alan Robinson was again the most successful exhibitor though the prizes were generally spread around. Alan was able to make two good entries in the six bloom collection class gaining first and second prizes with Wendy Akers third. Alan’s ‘Banker’ was judged as the overall Best Bloom in show.
In the class for three vases of three blooms, Alan again was the winner, with Christine Yeardley second and Ken Bacon third.
What a wonderful show, well managed by Peter Trickett with the help of a great army of Garden Club members, too many to mention by name. Peter managed to win the trophy for the Club class of a pot of five bulbs of Toto.

Wrenthorpe’s annual spring flower show is now established as part of the show calendar and comunity life in the village. New growers are emerging in the winners list as former novices get bitten by the show bug. Events such as this help to bind our community together so well done organising committee-you do a grand job.
