Rosecarpe Horticultural Society – 22 and 23 April

The Rosecarpe Horticultural Society Two Day Spring Bulb Show held on Good Friday 22 and Saturday 23April held at Lamesley Garden Centre formerly  Silverhills Nurseries, Gateshead, had record entries in both daffodils, tulips and other classes  with over 700  blooms on display from 24 exhibitors.

The  Silverhills Nurseries Daffodil Open Championship for twelve cultivars from not less than 4 divisions went to Frankie Charlton of Cleadon and also won Best Exhibit in show.

The Best Bloom in show was ‘American Dream’  1Y-P exhibited by Frankie Charlton, who also had Best Bloom Div.2 with ‘Banker’  2Y-O.

Best Bloom division 3 was ‘Astrid’s Memory’ 3W-Y from Barry Hogg.

Best Bloom division 4 went to Keith Blundell with ‘Gay Kybo’ 4W-O.

Best Bloom division 5 in a vase of 3 was ‘Miss Lizzy’ 5Y-Y this exhibit was awarded Best Vase in show and  went to Ivor Fox.

Best Bloom division 6 ‘The Foxtrot’ Ivor Fox.

Best Bloom division 7 ‘Baby Boomer’ Ivor Fox.

The Rosecarpe Championship for 6 Cultivars of Daffodils from not less than 2 divisions went to Morris Robinson, cultivars being  ‘Red Spartan’, ‘Fine Romance’,  ‘Carib Gypsy’, ‘Delnashaugh’, ‘Misty Glen’, ‘China Doll’.

  1. what an excellent show in this heat, hats off to everybody who showed. I like the idea of a full face and a side on photograph of the best blooms, you can really get a good idea of their form that way.
