Despite the very late season, with no entries in the main collection classes, the exhibitors made a good show of it particularly Christine Yeardley, Sue Vinden and Ron Crabtree.
Sue Vinden’s ‘Misty Glen’ was overall Best Bloom in show. Can anyone identify the Best Bloon division 1, it looked very much like a ‘Banker’ to me.

There were very few division ones and twos and virtually no division threes at the show, it was saved by the cyclamineus cultivars and miniatures. In Wakefield in recent years these have been and gone by mid-March. The exhibitors east of the Pennines (unless they grow in pots which can be brought under glass) are really struggling to get their green buds to become flowers in the open ground. We’ve had three days of rain and sun this week (and wind!) but some flowers still look as though they won’t be out till mid-May.
