Wakefield Paxton Society 40th Spring Show

What a change from the empty benches of last year. The cold spring of 2013 really clobbered Wakefield, not so this year. The benches were filled with daffodils, complemented by a long run of alpines and other spring pots, plus another long run of tulips, cactus and other tender plants. I was particularly impressed by the quality of the cacti. Well grown and well presented.

There were seven good entries in the main collection class won by Steve Ryan (Best Exhibit in show) with Ken Bacon second and Christine Yeardley third. Steve also had Best Bloom in show with ‘Pacific Rim’.
It was nice to see two relatively new daffodil exhibitors Neil Tyers and Andrew Thorpe among the prizewinners.
A few of the selected winning entries are pictured below. Click on the photo to expand it.
