This village show was much better than in recent years with 18 exhibitors putting on 150 blooms in 40 classes plus 14 pots of daffodils in the sponsored class. The quality of flowers was good all round, making it difficult to select the Best Bloom in show which in the end went yet again to a very good bloom of “Banker”. This came out of the Best Exhibit in show which was Ken Harrop’s who came in late because of problems with electrics at his site. There were good flowers in other classes, especially the red cups having good colour ‘Celestial Fire’, ‘Loch Lundy’ and ‘Fly Half’.
As the judge the advice I would give to the exhibitors is to spend a little time before staging your flowers in dressing them. That way you will win more prizes.
