Kirkham & District Horticultural Society 16 March 2013

One of the firsts shows of the season here in the North West and despite the wintry weather plenty of daffodils were in evidence.  Including amateur classes 130 exhibits were staged, a total of 167 blooms.

Peter Walkirkham_1ker stole the show with a single ‘Rapture’ (see left) which won Best Bloom in Show, Best Daffodil Exhibit, the Pauline & Ken Roberts cup, the Barbara Williams Cup and the Bronze Medal.

In the Amateur classes A Sheard took the A D Gwilt cup with another example of ‘Rapture’.

Judge Ian Tyler awarded two diplomas to John Irving. One for ‘Xit’ in the approved miniature class, (see below right) and for ‘Seagull’ (3 W-Y) (below left).

  1. My wife and I met Eric and Pat in the gardening dept of a store and started chatting about gardening.
Could you give me details of Kirkham & District Horticultural Society, where, when and time?
