The AGM was held at Denton Community Centre on Sunday 8 March 2015 with fifteen members in attendance.
After the closure of the meeting those wishing to do so were invited by Allen Brierley to visit the Denton Chrysanthemum and Dahlia Society’s site nearby. This visit was much appreciated and Allen very patiently and knowledgeably responded to the many questions with which were asked. A few photographs of this visit follow. (click to expand)
After the visit those present were able to look at the show (ably judged by Derek Williams and John Freer) which had six exhibitors with thirty seven exhibits. The full results may be seen here. Alan Robinson had made a great effort to force out a range of the best standard daffodils (reminiscent of the late Jack Whitmore) and was rewarded by winning the majority of classes, the Best Bloom in show, Impeccable in Class 1 which was Best Exhibit.

I would like to add a big thank you to all members who attended and those that put blooms on the show bench to make it an enjoyable meeting also Allen for the invitation to the allotments.
The ladies for the superb lunch and afternoon tea and cakes.
Must also add a speedy recovery to our re-elected president Wendy.
Thank you for the good wishes Chris and northern group members. The ‘shingles’ is still painful but not too bad. I had a good day at the AGS show at Kendal yesterday and saw some wonderful pots of narcissus. I hope to see you all at some point in the spring. Good growing for 2015, we drove through a lot of snow on the northern Pennines and realised we’d been lucky in Yorkshire at lower altitudes. Roll on spring!
The Early Show and AGM was a great success. As always a group of friends all meeting and working together proved to be the way forward . The latest information regarding the prospect of the RHS late Daffodil and Tulip Show being held at Harlow Carr in 2016 was discussed with great enthusiasm . We are delighted that Wendy is progressing well i am looking forward to seeing her at Harrogate. I should also like to mention that Don Barnes is in much better health.
Kind regards to everyone.
