Northern Group Late show Pilley 6 May 2012

For twenty or more years the Northern Group has held a late-late show, more about people rather than flowers, good company and good food. This year, after the strangest season in living memory, we had lots of flowers. A total of 233 blooms were staged by sixteen exhibitors from all points of the compass, and 27 people sat down for the feast.

The photographs which follow came from Tony James, Chris Bone and John Freer, and are mainly of people with the odd flower thrown in. Full results can be seen by clicking here.

First a few general shots of the show.

Then a few flowers.

  1. Once again well done James, you must work through the night!! Love the humour it just captures the atmosphere of the day,”A good time was had by all” Long may it continue.

    1. James: Enjoyed the people pictures, especially of Anne, Wendy and Richard. It reminded me of the wonderful times Hubert and I had with you all on our trip to Harrogate. No chance of ever making that trip again as I am on oxygen all the time and cannot travel far from home. Would love to see Don Barnes as well.
      Best wishes to all.

  2. Great photos enhanced by the humour – the show & dedicated people could have been anywhere in New Zealand where I live. It’s a lovely warm autumn day here so thank you for sharing your spring.

  3. What a super end to a very good season. Thank you to all who made Pilley such a great success. Special mention must go to Chris Bone our Secretary who got through the day even though he was in extreme pain because of his injured back. Thanks also to John Freer who with Chris put up the staging. As has been mentioned the catering provided by our members was “out of this world”!. Thank you to all who exhibited and those who provided Raffle Prizes. I cannot end these notes without congratulating Anne and Richard Smales who received our Discretionary Award for services to the Daffodil.
Lets hope that 2013 is as successful as 2012.
    Regards to all.
