The 34th Whickham in Bloom Spring Show was very well attended. Some 400 people attended the one day show many of whom are regular visitors. The Spring Show is part of the Whickham in Bloom entry in the Northumbria in Bloom which is part of RHS Britain in Bloom.

The schedule covers most Spring subjects but also caters for Poster Painting classes for local School children of which there were 160 entries.

The Best in Show award went to Paul Holmes who exhibited among many other exhibits a very good pot of 6 tulips “Worlds Favourite” (see left). Best in Floral art and Reserve Best in Show was awarded to Sue Pennington Chairman of the Whickham Flower club. for her entry in “Lets have a party”.

Regular Daffodil exhibitors Pauline Shaw, Keith Blundell and Dennis Brennan all displayed creditable exhibits. Although Morris Robinson’s daffodils were not ready he did enter in the photography class.

Daffodil stalwart John Freer was one of three judges the others being Pam Greenhill Floral Art and Steven Clough paintings. There were a total of 127 entries from 14 exhibitors which provided us with a very good start to our 2015 Bloom Campaign.
