It is with great sadness that I have to report the passing away of Derek Williams on 13 August after 85 years. He had a 30 years plus association with the Daffodil Northern Group as well as Hougton Green Horticulture Society where in recent years he took on the shows manager’s position. He was also an exhibitor of roses and gladioli and a very good judge of daffodils at local and of course Harrogate shows. All this while relying on public transport as he did not drive

So sorry to hear of Derek’s passing. He was such a friendly, quiet unassuming person – a gentleman. He will be very sadly missed in the horticultural world
